That sound you heard on Friday evening was the collective wail from lovers of inclusion, human rights, and the rights of all women when the news broke of the passing of Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
She was everything: brave, honest, crazy intelligent, steadfast, able to see ideology separate from personality (she and Justice Scalia could not have managed a friendship without it). She got it, identified it, analyzed what was needed, built a strategy to solve it and worked, literally, until her dying day. There are so many lessons to be learned from this amazing woman and her career.
My hope is that her passing will not usher in a rewind on rights for women. My fear is that’s exactly what will happen. I’m very sad and yet grateful for her contributions to justice and equality.
Thank you RBG.
You will be missed.
Your light will continue to shine through those of us left standing.
